Steve Carberry, A Graduate of Marist College I played 1st singles for three years. The team went to the divisional championships 2 out of those three years.
After College I attended the Vander Meer Tennis Academy in Hilton Head Island where I received a P-1 Certification in 1978. This gave me the insight to teach large groups of both juniors and adults.
When I returned from Vander Meer I started teaching tennis at Prospect Park where I became the Head Pro.
From zero, we eventually added 500 students to our tennis program. It was one of the largest programs in N.Y.C.
I developed many ranked Juniors and Adults during this time. I also became certified with the U.S.P.T.A. P-1 and reinforced my teaching background.
I have taken many courses with both organizations plus I attend their World Conferences to stay current on all tennis teachings.
